We reported two weeks ago that Facebook was planning to remove its Facebook app for Windows 10 from the Microsoft Store on the 28th February 2020. That fateful day has now come, and the apps have been duly moved from the Store, with the listing saying the app is no longer available. I happen to have a Windows Phone 8 and a Surface RT. I've found that the facebook/OS integration with the phone is perfect for my needs. It's easy for me to get/see updates, post things, chat, calendar updates and do whatever else I want with facebook simply through the OS and people hub.
Update: While it downloaded fine on my Surface, it may be rolling out gradually. Some of us at WinBeta already have it while it hasn't shown up for others.

We had already seen the feature spotted on the Windows 10 but now it's officially here. Users of Facebook can now use Facebook Live directly from their tablets and PCs using the Windows 10 Facebook app.
Facebook Live is a growing popular video streaming service and being added to the Windows 10 app relatively quickly is a great sign. With Facebook using their own porting tools for their apps such as Facebook and Instagram we expected feature parody with the iOS apps. Hopefully this trend continues and all Facebook features become fully available to Windows users (such as a similar Facebook app coming soon to Windows 10 Mobile).

We got the news of the addition from Josh Vassar on Twitter. It doesn't seem to be listed in a change long for the app but I tested out the feature and can assure that my live stream did show up on Facebook and is currently receiving comments from my friends. The app was updated yesterday but the change wasn't listed.
To go live just click the button that I've highlighted in the picture above. You can then see what your stream looks like and go live.

Both the mainstream Facebook app for Windows 10 and the Facebook (beta) app have been removed.
In their earlier email, the company told active users of the app they can still use the website, saying:
Since you use Facebook for Windows desktop app, we wanted to make sure you're aware this app will stop working on Friday, February 28, 2020. You can still access all of your friends and favorite Facebook features by logging in through your browser at www.facebook.com.
For the best experience, make sure you're using the most current version of our supported browsers including the new Microsoft Edge.
You can still access Messenger through the Facebook website or by logging in through your browser at www.messenger.com. If you prefer a desktop app for your conversations, try the new Messenger for Windows which you can download now in the Microsoft Store.
